Tulips

I stayed home from work today and visited the doctor. I got a bad sinusitis she told me (as I did not knew that already) and I got antibiotics. Perhaps thats why I have been so tired the last week. I have had this for almost one and a half week now. I know I should have seen the doctor earlier, but.........

So I went in to my sewingroom to look for some quiltmagazines. And look what I found instead. My tulip table cloth. Hidden in a box. I started on this last spring, but did not finish it. And I think it was because it got too short for my table. So now I started to cut off one end.

And I added two more rows. Luckily I had pieces left from the background fabric.
I appliqued more tulips on it and voila.... it's ready to be basted and quilted tomorrow (or this weekend). I have not yet decided if I want to handquilt it or quilt it by machine. And I think the binding will be a mix of yellow and orange fabrics.

Tulips are one of my favorite flowers and I want to finish this table cloth now. It will look nice on my table when spring now is coming. And I will feel good because a UFO/WISP is done!!!!!

February is soon gone.....

Sometimes work just interferes with privat life.......and sewing. I have been so tired after too many hours working late. And the work continues.......... I know march is going to be a turbulent month. But I have at least one very fun ocasion to look forward to. The Norwegian Quilt Associations annual meeting. A whole weekend with quilting and meeting good friends. I'm in the committee and have a lot of organizing to do, but it will be fun. You will hear about it later...........

I have finished another Applique Design block. This will be my 18th. And they are still fun to make.
So I have prepared another five blocks to do. Preparing all the pieces take time, but now they laying ready in their envelopes ready to be sewed.

I also prepared another four blocks for my daisy quilt. They are now put in a box ready to go. When I am visiting quilt meetings, friends or what ever..... it is always easy to have a applique project to bring with me.
I have not been so clever leaving comments lately. But know I have been reading everyone. I feel bad neglecting you. So please forgive me. As soon as my work allows me some free time I'll be back.
Quiltsaying for today:
Bless this mess!

Desperatly wanting to sew !!!

Have you had that feeling too? Desperately wanting to sew, but you don't have the time for it. And when you are not have time to sew, hundreds of new ideas pops up in my head. Browsing through all your blogs does not help anything, you all give me new ideas. This week has been very very hectic. Every day I have brought home papers from work. And I have worked until it was time to go to bed. Not a stitch is sewed these days, and I start to be desperate now. I WANT TO SEW!!!!!

I went in to my sewingroom and found this box. I love boxes like this to store my projects. This box I bought when I came home from a visit in France. When someone at work are abroad we always buy sweets for the others. I bought this box filled with sweets. And I told them they could it it all, but the box was mine :) Do you want to see what's in the box?

My long lost needle threeder. I inherited one from my mother so I have not been without, but it is good to have one extra..... just in case.

In the box was also all my nine patches. All of them is hand stitched and each mesures 3 x 3 inches. I have prepared a lot of squares and it is fun to play with them to find the right colours put together. I will try not to have two similar dark fabrics in the nine patches.
I do not know what I finally will make of it. Right now I am just playing with them. Perhaps I should have this on my weekly goals. Make at least 3 nine patches a week??? You probably think I am crazy doing all this by hand. I know it is faster to it with machine. But when I handpiece all the ninepatches gets equal in size. And I love relaxing with my small pieces in my sewing spot.

But this seems so long time ago. I am desperately in need to sew now!!!!!!!!!!!!! To be creative!!!!! Need to feel fabrics in my hands!!!!!!!!!!!

Cleaning up in my bathroom today I noticed my bag that is hanging there. I do not think I have showed you this one. I made it some years ago. Think it was a pattern from australien patchwork and quilting. I love this bag and I would like to make another, but I can't find the magazine. Perhaps one day I will have time to look through all my quilt magazines (Oh my God....that will take a looooong time, because I have plenty of them) to find it againg.

Tomorrow it is friday again, and I hope I will get time to sew.

And I bought a new car today!!!! The old one got condemned

I bought a Mazda 626 Gxl 99 mod. And I think I'll get it next wednesday.

Saying for today:

Stressed is desserts spelled backwards

NEW: I have reloaded the photos again since some of them did not show. I do not know what went wrong in the first time. Thank you for noticing me of it. Photos is very important in blogland you know :)

HEARTS

February 14th. Valentines day.
I love hearts and flowers, romance and kisses.
I love hearts and today I took some photos of the hearts I could see around in my house just now. I know I have several more in my christmas decoration box and other boxes, but I did not find them now.
Do you want to take a look at my hearts?
This first one is a little quilt with loose hanging hearts on it.
I designed this several years ago and I love it very much.
A little pin cushion heart I designed for a stitchery class in my quilt group.
A wooden heart on my bathroom door.
A bunny heart for easter.
I find it so cute that it is hanging in my bathroom
every day, not just up for easter time
A deligthful heart that smells cinnamon and other christmas smells.
Gift from my dear friend Nancy in Grimstad.

Two stone hearts
My scissor holder which I use daily and my hexagon heart.
My Bronwyn Hayes heart My heart necklace
Heart with buttons.
And a filted heart I got from my friend Inger this christmas.
This one i hanging in my front door window.
I guess you also have some hearts around in your house, and I challenge you to show them on your blog too.

I found this about colours of roses on this link:
From time immemorial, beloveds have been compared to roses. If we juggle the letters of the word ROSE we get EROS, who is the God of Love. Rose has thus been the traditional choice of lovers around the world. The colour red is associated with strong emotions and below are listed sentiments expressed by different hues of rose:-

Lavender -- Enchantment and Uniqueness
Orange -- Fascination
Pink(Dark) -- Thankfulness, Friendship and Admiration
Red -- Love, Respect and Courage
Peach -- Modesty, Gratitude, Admiration and Sympathy
Pink (Pale) -- Grace, Joy and Happiness
Deep Red -- Beauty and Passion
White -- Innocence, Purity, Secrecy, Silence, Reverence, Humility and (according to some sources) True Love
Yellow -- Joy, Friendship, Jealousy, Hope and Freedom
Black -- Farewell
Red/White -- Unity or engagement
Yellow/Orange -- Passionate Thoughts
Yellow/Red -- Congratulations
Rosebud -- Beauty, Youth and a Heart Innocent of Love
Red Rosebud -- Purity and LovelinessWhite
Rosebud -- GirlhoodOne
Dozen Red Roses -- "I Love You"
Singel Red Rose in Full Bloom -- "I Love You"
Tea Roses -- "I'll Remember Always
And I also found this link about the meaning of flowers, and the language of flowers.
I hope you all have a heartful valentinesday.

Thanks!!

I want to thank you all for your nice warming comments about my accident yesterday. You are all so kind. I appreciate it very very much. You are such good friends. I have tryed to answer all comments, but a lot of them come up with "no reply" so I'll do it here. (perhaps it is an idea to check your profile in the blogger to see if you have marked the "show my emailadress" :)

I have been to the doctor today and she told me to stay home from work the rest of the week. And I think I need that. My neck feels like it is some inches too short. So I will relax the next days and hope I will feel better in some days.

Have been in the phone all day talking to the garage, the insurance company and the police. It looks like my car is going to be condemned. The garage did not think it was worth fixing, but that's up to the insurance company to decide. Luckily I get a rent car tomorrow.

One thing that makes me wondering is that no one stopped to ask if we needed some help after the accident. And I know there was a lot of other cars near by. They must have noticed the crash. I know I would have stopped and offered my help.

A big hug to you all .
Saying for today:
Take time to love the little things.

A bad day :(

Things happens very quick. Driving home from work today another car turned left to cross the road and I did not have any chance to avoid it. The front of my car is a total wreck. Luckilly both me and my passenger are not hurt in any way. Just feel like someone has beaten me up.
My neck is not feeling good, so I probably got a little wiplash. The other driver did not see me coming. I can't really understand that, but he just turned left and started to cross the road right in front of me. Both airbags was realeased, so the crash was quite tough. And I can still hear the sound of the crash in my ears. Not a good sound. I have always considered myself as a safe driver, but I always say; I'm not alone on the road.
So now I will relax in front of the tv with some sewing. Think I nead to get my thoughts on to other things now. I am so happy everything went ok. The car is insured, and it is just a material thing.

Making cubes

I promised to show you how I made my cubes. I have tried to scan the templates, but did not suceed with it right now. So I post the templates later. Perhaps if I place them on my cuttingboard you will see the size of them???

I start with three "diamonds" in light, medium and dark. To have the cubes turne the way I have them the light fabric goes to the left and the dark to the right. If you swap them the cubes will turn the other way. Medium always on the top.

Stitch them together. If anyone wonder how to do handstitching I found this link that describes it very good. I love handstitching. It is so relaxing and I think the quilt get a softer look.
Here are my pieces stitced together and you can see the cube.

This is how I iron it.
Then I add triangles on two sides. I have chosen different very dark colours (black, green, blue and even a dark red)
Now another cubes is laying besides the first one. And you can see how I add them next to eachother.
On each end I have to add another triangel and a ??? "sort of rectangel" LOL The same pieces have to be added on the other side when I have got as many cubes I need for this row.
A close up of the pieces on the end.

The next photo showes that you have to start with two cubes down in the right corner. Then you add row by row diagonally. You see how I have added big diamonds and half diamonds at the bottom. Likewise the same has to be done on the top.

This is how far I have come on my cube quilt. I am still working my way up. Have to make two more long rows, and then it will go faster as it will be fewer and fewer blocks in each row.

AD blocks number 16 and 17

I have finished two more blocks from Faye Andersons Applique Design. This is number 16 and 17. I have not trimmed the blocks. I will wait until I am going to sew them all togehter.
Now I will start making some cubes and take some photos of the process. I have got a lot of questions of how I am doing them...... so visit me later and I'll show you. It's been a great mothers day with sewing, sewing and more sewing :)

Siggie swap

Today I finally had time to make my 40 siggies to the blog swap. I choosed from my newest fabrics, some pink and brown Moda fabric. Why not use it now!!! This is the block from me. The colours are so wrong. They are more bright in real. Tomorrow I will start to sign all of them.

I played with some ways to put them together.............

Imagine it all with a lot of colours. And your signatures on it. I am looking forward to get yours siggie block.
