My easter visitor

I started early this morning baking sun buns. This is a tradition my friend Hanne and I have started, and it is the third year she comes for a Easter visit.

Poor Hanne was put to work by the coffee table. We had a discussion how to put the zipp into the zipper (LOL). I have bought yards of zipper without a zipp, and now we made a game out of putting the zipps on. Hanne on one side of the table and me on the other side.

It was very difficult, even though the shop had told me it was very easy. But with a pliers we manage to get the zipp on the zipper. (Hanne and I made a pun with the zipp and the zipper, you know a zipper without a zipp is no use)
And finally we got a lot of zipps on the zipper.
I have finished my sewing keeper. This was a kit I bought last year at the nordic quiltmeeting in Gøteborg. This is the front. Love those small houses.

The back has a small pocket to keep things in.
And this is the inside. Thanks Hanne for pursuading me to sew it together with you last weekend.

Now Hanne and I will continue sewing and just have fun.

A challenge

I have really forgotten to show you the result of my challenge to Hanne and Bente (no blogger). Some months ago (think it was our last meeting before christmas) I gave them a little envelope with a button and a small piece of lace. The challenge was to make a little miniature quilt 8x8 inches including the button and the lace. We decided to reveal it on the annual quilt meeting.

And this is what we made. Mine is on the top and I loved using selvedges in this one. Hanne made the one with the cute stitchery on the bottom left. And Bente made a angel using the button as a head and the lace as angel wings.

Now Hanne has given us a challenge. We got a small piece of fabric, some silk ribbons and a zipper with the theme "One for the road". And we have to finish it until our summer meeting.

Saying for today:

Challenges are what make life interesting;
overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.

Sunday sewing

All the applique is done and I will try to start making the squares and rectangels now.

My DD and her boyfriends is home for easter now. And later today my DS and his girlfriend is coming. Look forward to have them all home for easter. I guess there will be not so much time spendt in the sewingroom, but I have a lot of stitching and quilting to do. Will try to finish quilting on my easter bunnies quilt.

Goodies and a new project

Starting my easter holiday, one week home from work. And it got even better when I came home and opened my mailbox. A package from Australia. Look at the goodies Megan (no blogger) has sendt me. I love it all. Thank you so much Megan. I love the colors of the thread and look forward to stitch with it. And the christmas cone will be made in time for christmas :)

Talking to Hanne this evening we agreed (she pursuaded me) to start on this kit we both bought last year at the Nordic Quilt meeting in Gøteborg. Okei Hanne, I've started making the applique now. Do I have to finish it before your visit on wednesday??? I know we have a lot of sewing plans when we meet :) Together with sunbuns on the porch :)

March quiltmeeting

Yesterday was march quiltmeeting in my guild where I now am the leader. Easter is coming and we had made a little kit for our members.

During the evening a lot of hens was made and hung up.

Some of the ladies have participated in a round robin the last year, and yesterday was the show and tell of the finished quilts.

And of course a show and tell of other things the ladies have made. The photos is not good because of the bad light in the room, but I guess you want to have a look nevertheless :)

My shopping

Of course I manage to do some shopping during this weekend. There was so many temptations in the shops. And this is what came home with me.
Thread is a must to have for a quilter, and I found Cosmo thread, Yli silkthread and the Cottage garden thread. Look forward to start testing the cosmo thread. And of course some fabric came home with me and a Whimsical pattern book.
As you know we had Yoko Saito visiting our annual meeting, and I had to buy her book. I was so lucky to join her class as a reporter for our magazine, and I got the kit for the bag they was making. And I look forward to use the four in one tool Yoko always are using.

My best buying was a new otlite lamps.

I also got some gifts during this weekends. Thank you all of you
(you know who you are :)

And I love the Tutto bag I got. Now I can transport my sewingmachine in a safe way:)

This was my last meeting as a member in the board of the Norwegian Quilters Association. After 7 years in the board it was time for me to pass it over to another lady. Next year I will visit only as a guest and I really look forward to just calm down and enjoy it all.

And now I will continue on my focus projects. Still have some quilting to do on my easter bunnies. Hope to have it up on the wall this spring.

Tomorrow quiltmeeting in my local quiltgroup.
