No finishes???

Just realized it is soon July
and I actually do not have a finish for June month.
And that's perhaps because June have been a very hectic month.

My goals is to have at least one finish each month.
And I intend to keep that goal this month too :)

So this evening I went into my sewingroom and opened my project drawer. What to pick. Something fast to finish. And there I found this cute tea towel kit I got as a christmaspresent from Hanne last christmas. She had traced the stitchery and added the thread. So now I am sitting out on the porch stitching. Summer have finally come to Norway. A beautiful warm afternoon. Hope it will last for a long time now.

It feels good...tada da da da

Today I have spendt a lot of time in my sewing room. With some old movies on the computer and pepsi max in my glass, I have done a lot today.

My Garden is ready for basting and quilting.
Just have to find some backing.

And then I pulled out my Autumn Houses quilt.
Now I have almost finished quilting it.
Just two sides of the outher border to quilt
and then the binding.

UFO-agony and surprises

Today Hanne, Laila and I have had a sewing together on msn. With reports now and then we have set goals, sewed and chatted on msn. But suddenly it all took a turn talking about UFO's. And we agreed making a list. I went into my sewingroom and started to pull projects out from the drawers and boxes. And that's when I started to get UFO-agony.

You know when you pull out one project after another and the drawer never gets empty. Projects you have not seen for a loooooooong time. Forgotten projects and kits for projects you really wanted to start at once you bought it. My head is now spinning with old and new projects, wanting to focus, finish and forget. While all these UFO's, or I rather call them WISP's (Work In Slow Progress)is laying on my table, I still want so bad to start a new project (several new projects). Hanne, Laila and I have now made lists and we have agreed to push eachother the rest of this year. Hopefully we manage to finish some of these WISP's. And I am so happy I am a part of the OPAM (One Project A Month) . This challenge is great and makes me focus. My goal is to have at least one finished project each month.

Today I have focused on My Garden BOM. Will show you the progress tomorrow.

Yesterday I got two mailbox surprises. Having a not so good day, these two gifts made me smile again. It feels so good knowing I have such great friends.

I guess you have seen these socks on Hannes blog. Never did I think that they was for me :) So I got so surprised and happy when I opened my mailbox surprise from her and spotted these socks. Thank you so much Hanne.

And Monika had made a little cupcake kit for me. Love it, and I will bake some cupcakes from your recipe real soon. Look at the wonderful bag she have made too.

Thank you Hanne and Monika for these lovely mailbox surprises.

Progress on My Garden

A lot of you did not believe I would stay focused on My Garden LOL because all my new temptations LOL
But guess.....I have. Today I added the fabric around the stitched blocks.

And this is how far I have come today. Still a little bit to stitch on the last block. Hope to finish it this evening.
Rusken is spending a lot of time outdoors. He loves it. But yesterday night he really scared us all. He climbed out of the roof window and had a jolly good time walking on the roof. Finally he came back in through the window, and now we have to be careful not to let the windows be that open so he can climb out again. This is sooooo typical for an abyssinian cat.

New book

I love this book.
Filled with temptations
Do I manage to stay focused on My Garden???

PS: Just agreed with Hanne that we finish My Garden before starting on any project from this book. It is almost rude publishing so many temptating project in one book. This is the best inspirational book this year so far :)

Not me, but my DD is moving back home from Trondheim where she now have finished school. Together with my friend Irene and her husband (who drove my car with the hanger all the way) we drove up to Trondheim saturday morning. Had to drive some other roads than usual because of the flooding.
But with at lot of coffe breaks, like this one besides this huge rock, we had a great time together.

Irene and I tried to stitch a little bit in the car, but the road was so bumpy that the needle would not go where I wantetd it to go. Have to unpick some of the stitching on this one.

My DD has now finished an extra year at the Norwegian photo academy. She became a photograph last year, but have added an extra year studying art photo. And this is the three photos she had on the exhibition this weekend.

Now all her stuff is temporary stored here. It feels good to have her home, but I know she wants to find her own place to live. So I will enjoy the time together with her now .

Feeling a bit tired today. My neck and back hurts after all this moving and washing her old bedsit. So I have brought my box with My Garden BOM out on the porch, hoping to relax and do a few stitches.

This is my progress on this BOM. It is fun stitching on this and it will continue being my focus project this week.

Still focused

I am still focused on My Garden,
even though there are new temptations.
Stitching on block seven,
two more to stitch.

Staying focused??

Today I did the big cleaning up in the storing room besides the garage. I have postponed it for a long time, but today I did it. Having my DD moving home from Trondheim with her stuff, I guess there is need for her to store some boxes there. And after that was done I washed away all the pollen on my porch and rearranged the furniture outside, so now it is ready for summer sewing both on the front porch and the back porch.

And as a prize for all the work done today, I enjoyed some hours stitching on My Garden. I am almost finished stitching block #6. Will put the log cabin on when all the blocks are stitched. I am giving this priority now, because I have mad a deal with Bjørg to focus and finish some of my projects this summer. And then we can start sewing Antique Sampler together with a better conscience. No new projects this summer....................(I hope)

This is also another of my focus projects (have to admit that right now I have several focus projects). It is 2 x "Svennebrevet". I have almost made all the blocks that are sewn by machine, and then there is the blocks that I have to applique. Want to make all the rows of blocks before I choose the borders on it. This is my rainy days focus projects.

But as a true quilter I have so many projects in my drawers, so I guess I will not be getting bored this summer LOL And if I stay on focus with what I have planned, I guess it will feel so much better starting our new big project in august.

Do you manage to stay focused on your projects??

A visit to Laila

Today we visited Laila in Trysil. Celebrating her birthday which is next weekend. The sun is shining and it is a warm summer day so we enjoyed sitting in the shadows with our sewing and coffee.
Look at these wonderful cup cakes Laila had made for us. Yummy :)

I think this cute fellow wanted to join the cup cake party :) Or was he just wondering what all of us ladies was laughing about LOL
