It's so cold

It was not fun at all waking up this morning and take a look at the temperature. Minus 28.9. That means 29 cold degrees and I don't feel much like going outside. But I have to go to work. Today I would rather stay inside with a fire in my fire burner. But they are serving waffles at work today so that is tempting too.

Having this extreme cold here makes me thinking of how strange and ufair the world is right now. And all my thoughs goes to you in Australia who suffers from the terrible bush fires. I have been watching it on tv here in Norway and it is horrible. So I am thinking of all of my australian friends. Take care.

Yesterday I finished the second block in A Tisket A Tasket BOM from Bunny Hill. I love these blocks, Anne have done a wonderful job designing this. Looking forward to march block. Wonder what will be in the basket then. She has some great tips on embroidery here. Worth go checking.

Saying for today:
Life is like a blanket of snow.
Be careful how you step on it.
Every step will show!

Oh, now that IS cold. The coldest temperature I have ever experienced is minus 5 oC. (at Cooma, Snowy Mountains, Australia) And I thought that was cold :) Here it is 29.9 oC this afternoon - quite warm.
Your applique basket is just gorgeous - I love it.
Keep warm :) Maybe you could send some snow over our way :)

That is too cold even for me. I'm sorry you have to go out in it. You Bunny Hill BOM is lovely. I'm making mine on the weekend. Thank you for your care and concern. Thankfully I am well out of harms way. It is a terrible tragedy indeed.

I can't believe how cold it is for you! I am sitting here feeling quite cold at 20 degreesC! The same time last week it was 45 degrees C and we were absolutely sweltering without air conditioning, so it treally is strange.

Yes, we are all quite shocked at what is happening here in my home state of Victoria. So many lives have been lost, over 180 found so far with many more expected to be found. So many children, teenagers included in the deaths, it is absolutely heart wrenching. Over 750 homes have been destroyed and many of these fires were deliberatly lit. We have always been a country of floods and fire, but we have never seen as much devastation before. These fires completely took everyone by surprise because they were so quick. We have just had floods up North too.

The Australian people have dug deep into their hearts and pockets to raise money and send items that are needed. My knitting group is donating blankets we are making, the craft forum I am on is asking for quilt tops so others can add the batting, backing and bindings and quilt them. Then, ofcourse, there is also the wildlife to consider- donations of food for the animal shelters, pillow cases for the possums, wallabies etc.

It is lovely to know that Australia is also in the hearts of those abroad.

I love the basket and birds, they are beautiful, If only we could send the british rain down south to Australia, we are having floods here too, I think the brits would die of shock if they were expected to carry on as normal in -28 temperatures, they moan when its -8.... The black ice this morning is causing all manner of problems on the roads, we are not geared up for it at all!

Take care

Wow it is cold in Norway. We've warmed up here in central Canada to where we have freezing rain. Very unusual for the month of Feb.

Your block is so pretty. I've printed out the patterns for the blocks and plan on doing them.

We've had several weeks of 10 degrees farenheit and colder with the wind chill factor (that's about 12 celcius). Today is in the 50s(F) - like summer! I love the idea that you get waffles at work! I'm going to suggest that here - and then listen to them laugh for a while! Love your Bunny Hill blocks.

Oh, my that is cold, May.

Your block is beautiful. I think I may have to break down and start on those. I have saved the patterns, and it's a real temptation.

My heart also goes out to the Australian folks who have been so dreadfully affected by the fires.

Elaine Adair said...

Oh my gosh! But yes, the waffles DO sound tempting. Love that spring-y, hoping-for-warm-weather block!

I can't imagine how cold that must feel! Such a contrast to the parts of Australia that are so hot and burning.

I guess we just have to think of it as perfect sewing weather.... on Wefnesday I was in Trondheim, it was -36 at home when we left in the morning, and -6 in Trondheim- we felt quilte roasted walking around lol
your basket bom's are so cute, wish I had the time... Have a great weekend.
