Spring is in the air

It has been a wonderful weekend.  For the first time this year I have been able to sit out on the porch.  Really warm temperature in the sun.

So I have been stitching several hours out in the sun

016

And today I have been prepping log cabin blocks for my trip to the cabin next weekend.

Feels wonderful to sit out on the porch and feel the sun.

Never a dull moment in my quilt corner

001

This weekend I have had focus on my Aunt Sarahs’s quilt.

002

Finished all the hexagon rows.

003

The appliqued center piece was already done.
Did a lot of this applique while being in Shipshewana last november.

004

Then I glued the hexagon onto the center piece.  Luckily I had cut the center piece a lot larger than the original size, because now it was barely enough seam allowance.  You all have to remember that when there is a lot of needleturn applique the size will always shrink.

005

All glued down

006

and ready to ble appliqued down.

007

I also finished quilting An Angel Story quilt this weekend.
Hey…..who’s hiding here……

008

Rusken of course.

019

Ready to put the binding on as soon as Rusken let me have this quilt back.

009

Bjørg (no blogger) and I have been basting several quilts today.

010

We are so lucky we can use the big tables at the cantina at work.  But even then we have to climb up on the table to baste these big quilts.  This is Bjørgs beautiful Lancaster Quilt (design Sue Daley).  She is going to hand quilt this one.

014

Then we basted her Mrs Hartigans Stash (also a Sue Daley design).

016

This is my Mrs Hartigans Stash quilt.  This one we glue basted because I am going to machine quilt it.

018

This one is also Bjørgs quilt.  Love the look of it.  This was a BOM from Lappemakeriet.

Now I have some binding to sew down and some needleturn to applique down.  Never a dull moment in my quilt corner.

How nice of you mom…..

002

to leave your bag at the floor so I can sleep in it……

007

and to leave your new quilt on the table, it is so much better to sleep on it than in my basket.

Angel story quilt progress

001

Today I pulled out An Angel Story quilt. The book was published in 2004, and I think I started to sew it at that time.  Then it has been “forgotten” for ten years.  It is time to get it finished now because in May I have joined a class with Annie Downs.  It had been fun to have this quilt finished by that time and bring it to show her.  Just had to add the outher border.

004

Then I took it with me to the cantina at work to baste it.  So lucky that I can use the big tables there. Makes it more easy to baste.

003

When I basted it I recognized a lot of OLD fabrics.  Guess that I would have chosen different fabrics if I was going to sew it now.  But I really love the look of this one too.

005

Back home I started to machine quilt it.  Hope to do it little by little, in between some hand stitching.  Because machine quilting is a little bit rough on my neck.

006

Rusken is helping me with this quilt. He is trying to steal the Pinmoors I have used to baste this quilt.

A lot of sewing

003

Between shopping and some long walks in the sun I have been very busy this weekend.

001

My plan was to finish the top of Mrs Hartigan’s stash quilt (design Sue Daley)

012

And I did it.  I am so happy dancing right now.  But there is still more work left on this quilt.  Basting and quilting.  My goal is to have the binding on until september when I meet Sue again.

015

The quilt inspector have already checked out this quilt properly.

026

And claimed it for his quilt already.
