Roadtrip

Yesterday was my first day of my summer vacation.  3 weeks off work, and I really have no plans what to do. Just stay home and sew and relax.

So I thought...... My phone rang and there was my friend Bjørg asking, do you want to come on a roadtrip to Kathrines Quiltestue, we are just outside Elverum, but we can turn and pick you up.  And what do you answer to that...................OF COURSE I WILL COME WITH YOU.

And then we came to Kathrines Quiltestue.  Always a treat to visit this quilt shop.  Lots of inspiration and there was a lot of new temptations there too.

And of course I got tempted.  This is supplement for my Round We Go blocks.  Bought two backgrounds.

Right now I am leaning towards the denim blue as a background.

Round We Go BOM

In yesterdays blogpost I showed you I've got the first three seed packets in  Round We Go BOM from Sue Daley.  They were just so tempting so I had to start one block,

Love my new small wonder clips that I got from Deb when visiting her in April.  They are perfect for holding pieces together when sewing English Paper Piecing.

And here is my first block.  It was so fun (and it felt so good) cutting in my NEW fabrics that I brought home from my trip to USA in april.  Fresh fabric is fo fun to work with.

Delilah Template Of the Month

Some time ago I joined Jen Kingwell template of the month called Delilah.  I wanted to challenge myself and started to work with fabrics that are a bit out of my comfort zone.

Four T.O.M. has arrived so far.  Lots of peaces to cut on some of these blocks.

And prepping makes my sewingroom a total mess.

I like to pin all the pieces on to a paper sheet.  Then they are easy to bring along on cabin trips or just pick up at home to sew.  All blocks for the four months I've got so far is all prepped.

Working with these challenging colours actually makes me smile.  Happy colours.

So far I have made month 1 (two blocks), month 2 (two blocks), 1 block in month 2 (1 to go) and 1 in month 4 (2 to go).  So far so good...........

But then these arrived.

So many procjects, need more time to sew !!!!!!!!

All you need is finishes

Sometimes when you get at new book there is just something you just have to start right away.  I love this book and there is several projects that I want to make.  So just to give it a start I made this little purse.  Still waiting for my blue fabrics that I ordered.

This weekend I took the last stitch on this stitchery.  It is a pattern from Kathy Schmitz that is called Peace and Plenty.  Not sure if I just will frame it in glass or add som fabric and make a border around it.  Have to think about that, maybe search on pinterest to get some ideas.
I love her stitchery patterns. Waiting for 12 more small stitcheries called A Joyful journey.  And SO looking forward to her new book in september. Looks like I will have a lot of stitching this fall.

In May I blogged about focusing on an really old ufo.  In that post I showed you one part of the blocks (the blue blocks) I found and had finished.  Now I have focused on the other half of the blocks and have finished this brown/beige table cloth.  So happy that these OLD blocks came to use.  This one will go in my giftbox.

Where is summer?

I wonder when summer is coming to stay for more than a couple of days.  So far this "summer" I have just once had to move over to the porch that is in the shadows because it was too hot to sit on the sunshine porch.

To stay warm I have had to sit in the sunshine.  Love sitting outside with my sewing.  I took one day just prepping more pieces for my Halo blocks. Now I have a pile of each shape in different fabrics to make new Halo blocks.

And when it is getting chilly I just snuggle under a quilt.

Finished this little miniature quilt.  It is a Edyta Sitar design and I made it from almost all the red and pink fabrics I bought on my USA trip in April.  It brings so many good memories travelling with my friends from one quiltshop to another.

And i love my new purse.  It is a By Annie pattern.  Perfect size when going to the shop or travelling and it was easy to sew. She makes very good and detailed patterns.

The other day I got a new book all the way from Australia.  I just LOVE this book.  It has so many wonderful projects. Want to make them all.

But I had to choose one.  Making this little purse with  a blue bird on.  And don't get chooked.........I ordered a lot of BLUE fabrics at Northern Quilts yesterday.  For you who know me RED is my favorite colour.  Until lately.........I have actuelly started to love BLUE, well........not all kind of blue, it has to be the greyishblue.  No navy blue or bright blue for me.
