Cuddling my fabrics

After a long walk in the sunshine to exercise my shoulder and neck I went into my sewingroom. What to do now when I'm ordered to keep my right arm completely relaxed????? I want desperately to sew, but now I have to follow the doc's order. Relax, relax, relax and just use my arm a little bit and stop when I feel the pain coming.

So what to do?????

Looking into my fabricdrawers I found that there was a complete mess in them.
You know when you start a new project..............
you pull out fabrics to get the perfect match....................
you start sewing......................
and forget to put then nice and folded back.................
and when you try to get a bit more space and order around your sewingplace...................
you just tuck them down in the drawer to get rid of them...................
because you want to sew more!!!!

And then it looks like this
My green fabrics
and my blue fabrics.

With Frida supervising it all I pulled out all fabrics from the drawers and started folding it nice and neat together. A lot of old fabrics together with new fabrics, lost fabrics, fabrics I didn't know I had bought, fabrics that have been pretty twice and forgotten projects. I laughed when doing this. And my arm worked good while doing this. Think this was perfect exercise both for my arm and my mind.
And finally..................

Do you see the difference :)

From having several messy drawers I now have them completely organized in colours.
But what have happend.................. I now have a lot of space in my drawers. Have my fabrics not mulitiplied while being alone in the drawers??????????
Have to add that all my light fabrics and all my new fabrics are not in this drawers LOL And all my Bali fabrics and japaneese fabrics are in separate boxes. I have not touched them yet. Perhaps tomorrow.
I have had a good day today. My arm is feeling a bit better. Perhaps the cortison injection is starting to work. But I promise to be careful the next weeks. Not overdo anything. And listen to the doctor and all my friends who tells me to relax.
Saying for today:
Laughter is the best medicine

Ahhh fabric fonsling is the best theropy. So glad to see I'm not the only one who "sometimes" keeps messy drawers. Glad you enjoyed your time with your fabric and that your arm is starting to feel a little better.

I love when all the fabrics are lined up so neat and pretty . . . for me it only lasts until the next inspiration - then I make a big mess once again *s*

Wow! Just lke a quilt store! It is inspiring to see a fabric drawer like that! I really need to do something to get organized.

They look so nice all lined up in neat little rows. Perhaps you could come to my house and perform the same miracle. I think distance could be a constraint. Take care of that shoulder.

Oh, your fabric drawers are lovely! I have to email this post to my husband so he can see that I don't have that much (read: enough)!

Great job on the organizing :O)...
Hope the arm gets better fast for you!

Oh, how neat and tidy are your fabric drawers now! That was time well spent. I think only scraps multiply in the drawers, though.

Wow, that's a big difference! Now you can see what you have, too. I love to go through all my fabrics. I always find dozens of things I'd forgotten I had.

The drawers look great. You have so much fabric. I have just started building my collection. One day I guess. You could pick out your next projects while your arms is healing.

I am happy to see that you have found something to do while you are healing :-)
I did the same when I was to sick to sew much this winter - I sorted and enjoyed.
I hear a blue strip quilt calling my name today. Will you believe I even said no thank you to receiving more fabrics for my care quilts yesterday evening. I have some serious using to do here at home first.

Cuddling cats and fabrics is good for your health! It lowers your blood pressure and cures sore shoulders! And about the space you created, that can easily be filled up, because after cuddling the second best therapy is buying fabrics. Do you have some little cozy fabric-shop around the corner?? I would have expected more pink in your drawers...!

Wow that is Impressive... Was Frida being supportive in her supervisory role? (Or was she warning you not to move the pieces that she was using?)

Oh, they are all calling you back to play! What a good use of your time - if you can't sew them you might as well pet them.

Wow, it looks so neat and organized! How can you possibly find anything! lol Gosh, if you need to relax your arm some more, you can always come over and organize my stash! ;o) The weather is beautiful! I do hope that you will be able to sew in a bit. It's an awful feeling when the fabrics are calling you and you cannot answer! Keep well!

Så flott det ble i skuffene dine - er det ikke deilig å finne igjen gjemte og glemte skatter. Fortsatt god bedring

You are an excellent example for the rest of us with those messy drawers! Congratulations - just looking at all that neatness makes me happy!

Glad the arm is doing better. Must have been that cortisone injection. The closest I ever got to striking a man was when a DR. gave ME a cortizone shot! I would have KILLED him as he gave me that injection, except he had that needle in my arm and it would have hurt MORE! You were very brave and I'm glad its working.

How organized! Such pretty fabrics you have. Hope your arm is better soon!
