What about Butterfly Garden??????

Looooong time ago there were two quilters (but I guess there is several more of us) that pushed the order button to get the Butterfly Garden BOM home in their mailboxes. They both started very eagerly to sew the first blocks together, then the progress slowed down a bit, and then the BOM packages was hidden in a box in the sewingroom.

What happened??? I guess what happened was that we both struggled to get the packages home at the right time. We struggled getting the main fabric in our packages because the shop that delivered was empty for it. Some packages got lost in the mail. All this resulted in that at the time all packages was in the house, my sewing mojo for this quilt was lost.

Then the two quilters met one friday afternoon. The finished blocks both have done was layed out on the floor. A lot of discussions how to get our sewing mojo back for this BOM. Because it is a beautiful quilt, and we have spendt so much money in buying it and we both want to finish it.

The two quilters sat down and looked at all the blocks that was finished, planning the further progress on this BOM.

And then they shaked hands, agreeing to finish one small block each week. With help and encouragment from eachother we now have big hopes to get this Butterfly Garden quilt finished before next summer so that we can use it as a porch quilt. Visit Hannes blog to see what she is writing in her post.

Anyone who wants to join us??
I guess we are not the only one sewing on this BOM

I like that you shook hands on this. It can be easy to get distracted away from a project. I will be watching to see your progress.

Good luck with the quilts! I thought this was a great post, as so many of us have bought a lot of fabric and the un-made quilts sit on our shelves. I'll look forward to the completed quilts on a future post.

Hey May Britt! Oh dear ... there's another quilter here in the same boat with this gorgeous quilt. Mine has had to go on the back burner for a little while so I can tackle a baby quilt, a new quilt design and the "Gardeners Journal" stitch along ... but I haven't forgotten my Butterfly Garden. I don't think I can guarantee a mini block a week, but I'll look forward to seeing the progress you and Hanne make - happy stitching! Bear Hugs! KRIS

So funny and entertaining post! I'm sure you will finish your quilts... TOGETHER YOU'll do it. I would like to be part of this fun (I'm in the same boat with you, from the same place ordered BOM), but I think I don't have enough time...

Very funny and more so because I have been in the same position. And very interesting in how you two worked out a way to get it done: good for you!

Excellent plan May Britt! Peg and I started this quilt last year and we are both up to the second big block, although I have pieced all my mini blocks. This quilt is my hand-stitching for the next while, so we may see some finished Butterfly Garden quilts over the following months.

Everything will turn out just fine. That's the life of a quilter. Thanks for sharing.
Happy Quilting!

Thanks so much for posting this! I too bought mine from the same place and am in the same boat - all the way here in California USA! I have 2 big blocks made and just about 1/2 of the stitching done on the 2 blocks. You have just inspired me to get it out and try to work along with the two of you. Thanks for the inspiration!

Et flott eventyr - fint illustrert. Det ender nok bra til slutt som i alle ordentlige eventyr! Lykke til!

Oh those BOMs so seductive and so hard to stay on track! I have about 4 put away now for when I retire but I still push a button occasionally. Looking forward to seeing your progress May Britt.
