Incoming photos of bags

Thank you all for all the wonderful comment I have received on my Stitchers Angels pattern. And it is fun to get mails with photos of bags that already have been made.

Jeanne from Luv 2 Stitch have used another stitchery and followed my instructions for the bag and made her own version it.

A little extra information about my pattern:
Like Jeanne you can easily use another stitchery to make this bag. And you can easily change it to a bigger bag. You just sew the front first as big as you want the bag to be, just remember to have enough on the top so you can add the cord casing and the bottom to make the corners right.And then cut the back, the inner bag and the batting the same size as the front is made.
The cord casing has then to be adjusted to the width of the bag and I recomend to cut the cord casing perhaps at 3 inches wide x the widht of the bag.

Stitchers' Angel Sewing Bag

Now it's my week to give you a pattern in the Stitcers' Angel Club. Due to the timezone some of you already have waited almost a day for it, and for others I guess you have not woke up yet. I'm soon ready to go to work, but first I will present what I have made for you:

The Stitchers' Angel Sewing Bag

Cutting:

Cut the following pieces for your bag:

5x7 inch for the stitchery

2 strips 4 x 5 inch, 2 strips 14 x 3 inch and 1 piece 14 x 10 inch in fabric for the main bag.

2 pieces 1x10 inch fabric for the inner bag and 2 strips 2 1/2 x 9 inch for cord casing

2 pieces 14 x 10 batting



You also need 5 small buttins for flowers and two 36 inches cords to pull the bag together



I have used 1/4 inch seam allowance

Stitchery:

Use a pigma pen to trace the stitchery pattern. Centre the design and trace onto the fabric you have chosen to stitch on. This can be done by either using a light box or tpe the pattern and fabric to a window. I always use a very thin batting or iron-on Pellon behind my stitchery to hide the threads. Or just place another piece of cotton fabric behind the stitchery. I have used DMC embroidery thread in different colours. Just take a look in your thread scrap bag and use the colours that match the fabric you have chosen for your bag.

Front and back of the bag:

Take your two strips of 4x5 inch main fabric and sew it on top and bottom to the stitchery. Then sew the two strips of 3 x14 inch to the left and right side of the block. Make sure it measures 14 x 10 inches.

Place this on top of your batting. Quilt as desired. If you don't dare to do any fancy free motion quilting, just quilt some slightly bowed lines. This will be the front of your bag. I often use another "old/ugly" fabric behind the batting to make it easier to quilt.

Do the same with your 14 x 1 inch piece of main fabric. This will be the back of your bag.

Cord casing:
Take your two 2 1/2 x inch strips to make the casing. Fold the short ends and stitch them down. Fold each piece wrong side against wrong side and stitch with /4 inch seam allowance on the long side. Iron the casing with the seam in the middle of the back side. You will now have two casings. (on the photo you can see 4 strips, but this is only to show you how to do it)

Place one casing on each fron bag piece 1 1/2 inch from the top. Stitch it down on the long sides

Flower buttons:
Now is the time to sew on your buttons to make the flowers on the stitchery.

Sewing the bag together:
Place your two front pieces with the right sides together and stitch the bottom, right and left sides together. In the left and right bottom corner you draw a square of 2 x 2 inches. Cut and remove this square.

Open the cornes and sew them together as shown on the photo below.
Do the same with the fabric for your inside bag. But remember to leave an 5 inch opening in one of the long sides.

Putting it all together:
Turn the inside bag with the right side out and put it down into the outside bag. Make sure the seam allowance in both sides meets and pin it together. Sew with 1/4 inch seam allowance around the top.

Then flip the bag through the opning in the inner bag, sew the opening together and put the inner bag down into the frontbag. Make sure it looks ok on the top and topstitch along the top edge with 1/4 inch seam allowance. Sew the opening in the inside bag.
Cut two cords 36 inch lengths. Using a safety pin on the end, thread one cord through one side opening in the cord casing. Thread the cord right around the bag and take it out through the same opening. Repeat for the secong lenght of cord, starting and finishing at the opposite opening. Tie the ends of the cords together.
Your bag is now ready to be filled with the other projects presented by the Stitchers' Angel Designers.

My sunday

Today I have been feeling like this. So my plans about having a big sewing weekend just did not work. Just a little bit stitching on my Butterfly Garden and............

...... I manage to finish my PIF gifts. I am so happy that they are now wrapped and ready to be posted to Jeanette, May Kristin and Belem. Hope you will like what I have made for you. Can tell you this much that it is something for a quilter LOL And I am still waiting for my PIF so it's not only me that are late :)

And my first surprise for my Stitchers' Angel friend is also wrapped and ready to be posted. I can't show you anything yet of what it is in case she is visiting my blog. I do not want to reveal myself before she gets the last package from me. But I've rememebered to take photo of it.

Goodies in the mail

Today I went to the postoffice and got the package from Spaine. It was fun to read the adress on it. I live in Elverum and they had addressed it El Verun :) I imagine living at such a place as El Verun must be very sunny and warm. And when I came home from visiting my mom another package was in my mailbox.

So I rushed inside to see what was in the packages.

The first I opened was from my dear friend Nancy. She have been in Birmingham, but had bought me a thimble from Holland because their flight was by Amsterdam. And I also got some beutiful fabrics as a prize from her 100th post blogiversary.
And look at this card she sent me. I LOVE IT. "Life is nothing without friendship" it says. I guess Nancy have thought about me and her looking like this in some years.

And then there was time to open the package from Spaine. Four small wrapped gifts was inside the envelope.
And look at this cute keychain made from tiny hexagons made by Teresa L Sako. And the cute passportholder made of Ana Serrano. Perhaps it's a sign I ought to go there :) I wish I could. In the package it was also a lot of wonderful ribbons, laces and beads.
I love all the things mention above, but when I opened the package with these two wonderful pictures the tears came. I LOVE THEM. These are made by Ana Maria. She have sewed a tiny house and a tiny tree, these are then framed by paper I guess she have made by herself. And in the paper it is added dry flowers and straw. They are both so beautiful. I will buy some frames on monday, and I know exactly where to hang them.

Thank you girls for giving me these wonderful gifts because of my two years blogiversary in august. I feel so honored. And your place is now on my "want-to-go-some-day list". Big hug from me to you all.

TGIF

WOW....this has been such a hectic week. Both at work and at home. So I really need this weekend to relax now, and hopefully get some sewing done.

Today after work I stopped by the quiltshop, as I always does on fridays because they have a long opening at the shop. On other days the shop is closed when I'm off work. Perhaps that's good for my wallet LOL. Today when I came by Irene at the shop told me she had something to show me............ and she laughed..........she probably knew I was going to fall for this ....... and she asked me if I could make a sample.

Look how cute these photos are. I'm going to iron them on line and make a bag of it. And of course I have to add som old lace, some cute buttons and perhaps some ric rac. And perhaps I make a workshop of it if I'm satisfied with the result. I'll start tomorrow after visiting my mother.

This evening I've just relaxed and stitched on my fourth block of Butterfly Garden. And almost falling asleep in front of the tv. I have lit some candles because it's very dark outside now. The autumn is coming very fast now. Just a few warm degrees during the night, but lovely warm sun in daytime.

And tomorrow I have to go to the postoffice to collect a package. Got a note in the mailbox today that a package from Spane had arrived. Wonder what it is.

Stitchers' Angels - Treasure hunt

At the cabin

Home again after a long weekend at the cabin. Bags are unpacked, blogs and mails are read. We have had some great days together.Every time we go to these sewing together weekends we have had wonderful weather. This time too. Rain during the night, but sun in daytime. So we have spendt a lot of time outside stitching.

And long walks in the woods. Look what we found. The mountain cranberries (tyttebær in norwegian) was ready to be picked.

And so we did.

A big bowle filled with these delicious red berries.

And now we could make my favorite dessert Trollcream. You just wipe the white of the egg together with suger very stiff and then add the red berries.

Yummy yummy yummy

and look at the wonderful pink colour!!

Ready to eat. Have to admit I ate toooooooooo much.

Not only dessert, but also these delicious cake.

Did we sew anything this weekend

Every one of us had brought a lot of projects. Some ufo's, some new projects, a lot of fabric, patterns and books. So there was plenty of work for everyone. This is what we had for show and tell right before leaving the cabin.

And this was my projects for the weekend.

Finished the stitching on one of the cupcake wallhangings.
Started two small purses from a japaneese book.

And almost finished four of these thread bins with pincushions. Just have to fill birdsand in the pincushions.

Feel I have been very lazy this long weekend. Just eating, sleeping, laughing and a little bit of sewing. But think that was good for my neck which is feeling much better now. Time together with good quilt friends is great.

Starting tomorrow to do some serious cleaning up in my sewingroom LOL Now it's just a mess.
