First WISP in january challenge

I've got so many positive comments on my "January - finish it up month"-challenge. That's great. I knew there was not only me having all those unfinished projects in my sewingroom. January will now be the month we do not start a new project. Our goals this month is to finish at least one old project. And I'll promised a prize to the one that finish most WISPs (Work In Slow Progress). Many of you have already mailed me that you want to join this challenge. The rules are: Post a photo of your unfinished project on your blog, finish it and then post a photo of it again. And perhaps like me make a list in the sidebar. And when I january 31th publish a final post about this challenge, you give me a final report of how many WISPs you have finished.

I've got my sewingroom back. And my belowed sewingmachine is on the table again, ready to action. And I've found my first WISP for january challenge. It will be the "Friendship basket" (pattern from Leanne Beasley).

It's not an very old one since I started it in october when Leanne visited us. I basted it yesterday and have started to handquilt it. I will do a simple handquilting and hope to have it up on my wall above my sofa now when I remove my christmasquilts. I was so lucky to receive more of the floral brown fabric so I will use that for the binding.

What's your first WISP for the "January - finish it up month"-challenge????

Saying for today:

So many quilts,
so little time :)

My first challenge is my crazy cat quilt. It was still not quilted and not binded, so I’m working on it right now! Good luck with your first WIP! Leanne’s patterns are always great to work on!

I keep seeing new things I want to make! I love this basket. But yesterday, I did baste two smaller quilts and need to write the words on a third so I can get the embroidery done so one of those should be my first finish.

I'm up for the challenge. Counted up my UFO's yesterday - OMG. Just need to decide which one to go ahead with. This will be fun.

Happy New Year! Your WISP challenge is a wonderful idea! I'll try to do some finishings, but doubt I'll be able to participate in the challenge :(

Your Friendship Basket looks great! Have fun quilting it :o)

What a great idea I am looking forward to seeing what you finish. The friendship basket looks lovely.

I just love that little quilt, and the fabrics you used. That will be a great binding for it. I only really have one thing left over, and that's one of the Quilt for an Hour quilts of Judy's, but I think I left the squares in storage. I'll check when we go down next week. Otherwise, they might be at my best friend's house, another place I leave projects. =)

How fun! Good luck on all your project finishing. I'm like the old woman who lived in a shoe -- I have so many projects I don't know what to do LOL!

This is a wonderful idea! I need to expand it to my knitting and cross stitch UFOs as well. Thanks for the push!

Oh Dear! Here I am with so many UFO and WISP and I'm starting new projects left right and center! I need to focus! I am so all over the place! My cottage garden panels are almost finished! Hum... it would probably be best if I didn't start cutting for that quilt given I have so many in waiting! Sound like a good challenge! Thank for doing this! Happy New Year!

Hi May Britt. It's 3.20am here and I can't sleep so am doing a bit of blog surfing. I think your WISP challenge is a great idea. I will follow it with much interest. I wont be joining in the fun as my New Years Resolution was to enjoy what I'm working on which happens to be my SBS and not feel guilty about my UFO's (i.e. my swap blocks, my DJ, my friendship blocks, my year 2000 swap squares etc etc etc I'm not even going to count my brown paper bags) This year I just want to finish something that is just for ME.
The only problem is as I look at all the wonderful blogs I'm tempted to start more projects. Oh well time will tell. bfn Sandra

would 1 month make much of a dent in the WISP's? I'm willing to 'give it a go' though. Once the kids are back in school anyway.
