A lot of things to look at, but nothing interesting to me.................until.....................
one stall that had a lot of thimbles.
So many lovely thimbles..................I wanted them all..................but they were a bit expensive so I bought only three...............this time. She promised she would be back next time (in the autumn I think). I have collected thimbles a long time. But that has been thimbles from places I've been on holiday or got from friends bringing them home from their holidays.
But now...........some antique ones................I know I want to collect more of these.
I looked up pn the internet when I came home to check what the lady told me.
The one to the left is a Royal Crown Derby Thimble Art Deco from 1900. I found photo of it on this link.
The one in the middle is a Royal Doulton Canton thimble. I found photo of it on this link
The thimble to the right I am not sure. The lady who sold me it told me about it, but I did not write it down and now I do not remember. When I got it polished I found a mark L.D.W. I looked the mark up at this link, but could not find L.D.W, but I found E.D.W, is it the same?? If anyone knows anything about this I would love to know more.
I think I have to buy a book about collecting thimbles now, because this was fun. Starting to collect antique thimbles.
A question................is there any other blogger out there collecting antique thimbles?????
Saying for today:
Wrinkles are antique smiles
PS: I'm in civil war fabric heaven now.............
tell you more tomorrow LOL.

Oh how beautiful! What a wonderful find and a great thing to collect. They don't take up too much space!
How special to collect these old thimbles, over 100 years old!
Oh what fun! I think my husband and I are going to try to make it to an antique fair tomorrow--like you, I've been wanting to go but haven't made it yet. Your thimbles are wonderful!
Gorgeous thimbles, May! Thank you for showing so many of the quilt shop booths in your last post. It's always fun to explore new places. I loved meeting Hanne in Shipshe. She is as nice as I thought her to be.
I don't know anything about your thimble May - other than that all three are beautiful! - but if memory serves me right the stirling silver one looks very much like the one I have that was - I believe - my grandmothers. It's downstairs so I'll have to get it out later and compare it to your picture.
Oh sew pretty. I also collect thimbles. I don't have many antique ones. I do have quite a few from around the world since my daughter is in the USAF she gets them for me. I always pick up one from vacations and friend and family pick them up for me when they go. It's fun to collect and there are so many pretty ones out there.

I have a couple of old antique thimbles as well. One of them is an old silver thimble with letter on it just like you have - they are the initial of the original owner of the thimble - that could be what those letters LDW stand for. The old thimbles are so lovely and nice to collect
The thimbles are beautiful!
Kind regards

Thimble collecting looks like a suitable hobby for a quilter, but then you could be using up the money needed to buy fabric....
I just don't know a think about antique thimbles except for I love them all *s*
Hello, Your sterling silver thimble is American. It is a style called "two band", because it has one plain and one patterned band. The letters on the plain band are the initials of a former onwer. The maker's mark, with a few exceptions, would be on the inside of the thimble at the closed end. One might find a crown or an anchor on the plain band. If you can describe the mark, or send me a big picture, I can help you. There are many thimble books available on my web site, and single copies of others are also available from me.
Nice thimble find! I also collect thimbles--check out my collection on my blog--posts: November 9, 2007 and December 23, 2007.
Those are a great find. I'm a wanna be thimble collector. There isn't any places here to find this type of thimble. I have a few unique thimbles in my collection.
What a beautiful and appropriate collection for a quilter.
Those are beautiful! I don't need anything else to collect :O)
Beautiful thimbles!
I don't know anything about thimbles but that would be a fun thing to collect. Yours are darling.
I have some old thimbles that I have been picking up at antique shops, but nothing as pretty as yours. I do believe I have one similar to the silver one though. You have a very nice collection.
I love your thimbles May Britt. Especially the sterling silver ones. I collect only sterling thimbles, but I don't have nearly as many as you do! I love the ones in your next post that belonged to your family!
Hello!!!
I collect thimbles too!!!
Hugs!!!
