A challenge

This is what I got in the mail some days ago. A big button and some ribbon. The challenge is to make a quilt 8x8 inch and these items has to be used. I have no idea what to make of it yet, so please help me with some ideas. I have to middle of november to finish this challenge.

Hva med å lage en blomst av knappen med en mondre knapp oppe på den igjen for å få blomsterfrø. Båndet kan du jo lage en sløyfe med så har du blader på stilken........

Maybe on the quilt a vest or jacket that can be opened with a secret inner life. The button and the tape are the shutter. The band is is wrapped around the button .....
So you magnify your total possible area :-)

I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer? (The ribbon could be his collar.)

How about the button being the fastener on an mounted envelope..a letter to St. Nick perhaps?

How about a decoration on Frosty the Snowman's hat band?

One of 3 cherries in a bunch, with leaves? Tied with a ribbon?

What about a crazy quilt or use the button as the centre of a flower and the ribbon as the stem...

I see Christmas there too. Santa with the ribbon as a scarf? Looks a little like snowflakes, and the button for his big red jacket, of course!

How about making the button the center focus in the middle of the quilt (or even a corner) and use circles or half circles and fan out.

I'd make Rudolph the red nosed raindeer (head only) and use the ribbon as a collar.

Well this certainly is a challenge, I can see a Santa with a big bag of goodies tied with that ribbon. The button could be on the top of his hat. Then again is could be part of a stitchery design. Good luck with this one. Happy days.

A flower out of the button? A little 3-D bow out of the ribbon?

Her var det kommet mye spennende, - jeg er i tenkeboksen med mitt bånd og min knapp.

* What great tips you've gotten already! I haven't decided what to do with my button and the ribbon yet.

WOW - THAT is a challenge. I like the ideas posted so far. Perhaps you could use the button as part of "one of these things in not like the other" and have 8 yo -yo's made out of blue or yellow with the red button stuck in for a 3 by 3 design and use the ribbon for the hanger. Or same concept but make them into a bouquet of flowers with stitched stems and the ribbon paced on it like it's holding the flowers together.

I was going to say crazy quilt, but I love the Rudolf the red nosed reindeer idea, using hte ribbon for a collar.

Me again,
You could use the button as a head for a little person and the ribbon as the arms.

How about several flowers with ragged edges ala Heather Bailey with button centers? i see the ribbon as the tinest flower maybe even the center made 3D. Looking forward to what you come up with!

I made a card for a teacher with a big red button as an apple. Maybe it's not season appropiate right now, but it looked cute

May, perhaps the button could be the middle of a dresden plate, and the ribbon would be part of the binding?
