I love everything about Christmas, so when Mdm Samm of Sew We Quilt and this bloghops cheerleader Carol of Just Let Me Quilt announced the HO HO HO blog hop I knew I had to join it. Christmas in July sounded perfect for me. And today it is my turn do do a HO HO HO blog hop post.
So what to make. Of course I could start something new, because I have so many patterns and so many ideas of new Chrismas projects. But then I thought, why not look in my boxes and drawers and see if there is some Christmas UFO’s that I could finish.
At the same time I got a challenge from a facebookgroup I belong to. Finish five UFO’s before starting a new project. And as you see, after looking through my boxes and drawers, I have a lot of Christmas projects that need to be finished.
The first UFO is a tablerunner which I stitched several years ago. It was supposed to have stars and borders around, but I thought that was too much for this one.
I decided to just sew a binding on it. No backing, no batting and no quilting. And I like the look of it now. Reminds me of the old tablerunners and tablecloths my grandmother used to have on her table.
Then I wanted to finish this Christmas pincushion I got from Stina some years ago as an adventcalendar from her to me. She now has this pincushion as a free pattern on her blog. The stitchery was done when I got it, so I guess Christmas came and the rest of the sewing was forgotten. You know like I can do the rest of this pincushion to after Christmas, but then it was put deeper and deeper down in my drawer (read; many more UFO’s got on top of this UFO)
It took me just two hours (with a coffee breake) to finish it.
Next I found these two small stitcheries. This was probably one of the first stitcheries I made long time ago. Before I learned to use the thin stitchery batting (stabilizer). I have used a thick cotton batting, so I had to make something using the size of the batting.
I decided to add log cabin stripes in different red fabrics.
I already had a lot of 1 1/2 inch stripes ready in a box.
And in a couple of hours I had finished two small Christmas wallhangings.
The fift UFO is a stitchery from Birdhouse. I love Natalie Bird patterns. Stitchery finished a long time ago. And I have plenty of red fabrics to go with this stitchery.
Adding squares around the stitchery.
And in a few hours this UFO was finished too. It was actually sewing down the binding that took the longest time. And when Christmas comes I have the perfect place to hang it.
Five finishes in five days. And it feels so good. It was actually fun having Christmas in July. My challenge to you all is to look through your boxes and drawers and see if you have some Christmas projects that needs to be finished. All of these projects just took me a few hours to finish, and I guess you too have some projects like this. I did not follow the patterns, just took what I had and added some stripes, some squares and finished them my way.
And the prize for having finished five UFO’s is to start a new project. HAPPY DANCING!! To set goals like this makes it even more fun to work with UFO’s.

Beautiful! You did loads of stitching. It looks stunning. Are your fingers sore yet? They must be. Amazing work!
Jag tycker att det var vackra juldekorationer som Du "trollade" fram med hjälp av lite halvfärdiga broderier och delvis färdigskurna tygbitar.

May Britt, all your stitchery projects are lovely and what's best: finished up and usable for this season's decorating or gift giving. I love that pincushion too! Thanks for including the link for that.
You are right though---so many things we set aside and maybe they just need the binding done, or borders put on. Very near completed but just forgotten or passed over for the next thing that catches our eye.
Enjoy your featured day!

Ok. So now you have inspired me to do some red work of my own for Christmas! Thanks for inadvertently adding to MY UFO pile. Y
Thank you for sharing.
Congratulations on all the finishes. What a splendid idea to 'do up' things already started. Your stitchin' is wonderful and my favorite was the singing angels.
How nice to finish 5 projects so quickly and get to begin a new one. Very cute.
What beautiful Christmas red projects! You are certainly an inspiration to us to be finishers. I used to be a finisher and now I've become more of a starter than a finisher. I have a large box of almost finished UFO's. Each one has very little left to finish it. That doesn't count not started kits, of course. I'm hard pressed to pick a favorite. I appreciate that you selected different methods for finishing your various projects. I have a 90-year old friend and she thinks every quilt has to have a border and every binding has to be on the bias - no exceptions. Thank you for participating and sharing your amazing Christmas projects and hopefully getting me off my rump and digging into my box(es) of UFO's and having some finishes very soon.
Love Redwork. Lovely work May Britt
Just wonderful, all of them and congrats to you for finally getting them off your UFO list.
Amazing :) You get the prize today! Each one is perfect. Those naughty UFO's why do they linger so long unfinished???? I think I need a goal to get some of mine done. Thanks for sharing . Janita
