Long time no blogging :)

Gosh...it is two weeks since my last post. I have been so busy this two weeks. Next weekend we are going to our annual quilt meeting in the Norwegian Quilt Association. A lot of planning to get the best for all the ladies who are comming. So there has been a lot of mailing between us in charge of the event.

One of the things I am in charge of is all the things that's going to be in the "goodie-bag" all the registered ladies will get.
Since I am so lucky to see the goodies in advance, I have already tested one of the "goodies". Will show you later this weekend, because it still have to be a secret.

Some ordered goodies also arrived in my mailbox.

And finally I can make this pillow. I bought this pattern while Lynette visited Norway, and I have waited for so long to get the fabrics for it. So when it starts to calm down, I will start making this pillow.

I also finished another secret today. Hanne, Bente (no blogger) and I have a challenge going on. I was the first one to make the challenge. They got a cute button and some ribbon and was told to make a little quilt 8 x 8 inches. And next weekend we will meet and reveal our small quilts, and then I will show you.

I have also done some sloooooooow work on my Bread and Butter quilt. Just one row and the corners to finish.

I really look forward to easter with some days home from work. Hope to get a lot of sewing done. And I promise to blog more often :)

Spring Sewing Party part 2

The quilt inspector is supervising my needle turn. Frida cat loves to sleep nearby me while I am sitting in my favourite sewing chair.

I manage to cut all the pieces for the outher border on my Bread and Butter quilt. And started to place it. The doorbell rang, and a good quilt friend of mine came for a visit.

She brought some lovely spring flowers for me.

We enjoyed some tea and chocolate while chatting. I stitched a lot of my cats. February block almost done.
Afterwords I basted my Easter Bunnies quilt and now I am ready for some pizza, redwine and quilting in front of the tv.

It has been a fun Spring Sewing Party day. I have visited (not all of them) the other blogs who joined this Pary and there is a lot going on. Because of the time differance some have just started and I guess some have already gone to bed. Hope we can repeat this another weekend :)

Spring Sewing Party part 1

A whole day sewing together with blogging friends.

And I started my day doing some needleturn watching OL from Vancouver.

Sewing on my Flutterby quilt and watching another gold medal to Norway was a perfect start on this day.

In my sewingroom the Easter bunnies quilt is on my ironing board. Want to baste it today so I hopefully can have it quilted before easter. So I have to look for a backing for it.

And my Bread and Butter quilt is on the wall. Going to cut the outher border for it today.

The fabrics needed is laying on my cutting table. So my plans for the Spring Sewing Party is all set up for today. See you later :)

Spring Sewing Party

I have seen this sign on some blogs and wondered what it could be. Visiting this place I found out I was invited to join a Spring Sewing Party tomorrow . And being home alone this weekend this was a great invitation. I will bring my Easter bunnies quilt, some stitchery and needleturn and we'll se what I get done on them. And of course I will bring some chocolate during daytime and when the evening comes I will serve a glass of redwine.

Think I will start the spring sewing party this evening already :)

February 2010 quiltmeeting

Today was the february meeting in our quilt group and also our annual meeting. I was elected as the new leader of our quiltgroup :) And I have some plans I want to present for them next meeting.

Another finish from me this month :) I sewed down the binding at the meeting this evening, and now my Christmas Wish quilt is finished.

Up on my designwall

This week has been so hectic. From monday to thursday I was away on a job workshop. Very long days with exam every day. I had brought both stitchery and applique in my suitcase, but there was not that much time to sit down and stitch.

But I have manage to finish the center block for my Flutterby quilt. I really loved doing this kind of applique again. I know my friend Bjørg also have finished her block, so this week I hope we can schedule a meeting planning next step on this quilt.

Although there was late evenings with school, I manage to visit a quiltshop nearby. And I found more of the fabric I needed for Flutterby quilt. It's the fabric in the middle. The fabric on the right sidew was so beautiful that I could not leave the shop without buying it LOL. Want to make a bag out of it, hopefully in time for our annual quiltmeeting in march.

Last night I drove to the airport in a heavy blizzard. My DD returned from her school trip to Marrakech and Essaouira. She has been there for a week with her class doing photo shoots. Looking forward to see all her photos. She had a great time there although the weather was not that good there. She knows her mother collect thimbles and she had bought me two new ones for my collection. She also bought me some silkthread. Not really figured out what to do with it, but have to test it if it can be used for quilting. Love the colors she picked out.

Focus project comming week will be:

- Making progress on my Flutterby quilt
- get a binding on my Christmas wish quilt
- finish the february BOM on the catquilt

A new focus project

Yesterday my friend Bjørg came over with her boxes of fabric. A new project was to be started by both of us. You remember we sewed Joy of Life together, and now we have started on Whimsicalquilts Flutterby.

I really loved this quilt the first time I saw it on the internet. And now I have started my version of it.

This is some of the fabrics I am going to use in it. Just have to find a dark brown japanese fabric to use in it. I really have to learn to buy more than a 30 cm of fabrics. I have a lot of brown, but not big enough pieces.
All the quilting on my Christmas Wish quilt is done. Now I have to sew the binding on .....booooooooring.

Looking for this fabric

Is there anyone that can help me with this fabric. I am starting a new project (just have to :) and I want to use this fabric in the background. I am not sure what range this is because the selvage edge is cut off (of course). But this fabric would be perfect for this special project.

Weekend with the girls

Thursday, rigth after work, I drove up to my friends cabin. The car packed to the roof with sewingmachine, projects, quiltbooks and magazines and warm clothes. Two other friends joined us early friday morning. And from that time you could hear the sound of sewingmachines day and night (almost).

But we had time for some fresh air too. So good to walk in the sun even if it was cold. We could actually feel the sun warming, and this makes me feel that spring will arrive slowly.

A lot of different projects was brought to the cabin. Here we are discussing what fabric to use between the blocks Bjørg have made.

I was sewing on some "old" blocks that I started on about a year ago (at a similar quiltweekend in this cabin). This is the pattern I am using. At that moment I was not very happy with these blocks, perhaps because I run out of one of the background fabrics.

Bjørg also sewed together this cozy flannel quilt.

I am working on my small japanese purses.

Irene cut all fabrics for this wonderful quilt,

and sewed some blocks together.

I managed to finish my two small japanese purses. Perhaps I can use one of them to keep my wallet, lipstick and mobilephone going to dinner with Yoko Saito :)

And I sewed the blocks together on my Bread and butter quilt. And I realized I really love the look on it now. Looking forward to sew the outher border on it very soon. It is so fun working with my japanese fabrics. Know I will buy more of them at the annual quiltmeeting.

This has been such a fun weekend together with good friends. We are already planning our next trip together.
