One of those days :(

Yesterday I had big plans going in to my sewingroom and SEW. After eating dinner I went in to my sewingroom. I had received the pattern for the daisy quilt Cynthia have made and I inteded to prepare for application of some blocks. Entering the sewingroom full of optimism and eager to start. What happens? I drew up the application on vlisofix and started to find some fabric. I looked through all my drawers full of fabric. Picked some colours to match for one daisy flower. No....they did not match. Found some other fabrics......no....they did not match either. I looked through all my fabric, and felt worse and worse. I felt that all my fabric was sooooo ugly. But I realise that is not true. I bought the fabric because they was pretty. But this evening I could not find any joy working in my sewingroom. I was not in the mood for doing anything. Does anyone else have this feeling sometimes????
I love quilting, I love playing with colours and fabric. I love creating things. But yesterday all that feeling was gone. Everything felt wrong. Perhaps it is because my sewingroom is such a mess now, or perhaps it is because I am so tired in the evening after working all day.

I want to share some pictures of my DD. She made some sewing yesterday. And I love it when she is working in my sewingroom. She went into my scraps and found some blue and white fabric which she sewed together. And started to embellish it with white pearls. Her first CQ. I will show it to you later when she has finished it.

And I hope I get my sewingfeeling back today. Because I want to sew. I need to sew!!!!!!

don't worry too much May Britt. I have days like that also, when every fabric i pull out doesn't look right with other fabric. I just put everything away and go back to it in a day or so.

Nice to see your DD is trying some CQ. Would like to see a photo of it when she is finished.

I think that this happens to everyone especially when we are tired and we want to go on to sew.
Sometimes I (we ?)forgot that sewing is a hobby and I confuse it with work!

I'm sure you will get your sewing urge back. What kind of sewing machine do I see in the background?

I, too, have been in a slump. None of my projects, patterns or fabrics really excited me. This has been for a month or a little more. Finally yesterday I cut up some fabric and started sewing it together. I didn't really like the fabric, but once I started I could see it much better. Then I remembered I love quilting ... the entire project. Today I am looking to finishing my housework to spend the afternoon sewing at the machine *s* Just remember, it will pass and your inspirations will be back *s*

Don't worry May Britt. It happens to the best of us! So cool that your daughter is giving it a try!

Is it a full moon? Is Mercury in retrograde? There seems to be an excess of "not feeling like sewing" and "my studio is so messy" in Blogland today.

I hope tonight will be better for you........

Oh May! I felt like that last night! My sister's CQ heart I couldn't get it right for the life of me! Everything I did was WRONG and I felt horrid! I don't like that feeling either it's awful! Then in frustration, I put things down the way I thought would look nice and was telling my hubby about it and I was saying "See it needs something else here like a picture or a monogram" and then MONOGRAM!!!! That's IT! So I got out my favorite inspiration book and found the perfect 'J' and stem stitched it in, I just need to satin stitch the rest of it in. I also played with the rest of the embellishment placement and I feel a LOT better about it now.
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one! LOL I hope you find inspiration too. Sometimes I have to let go of an idea I had already and allow something new to take over. I find that if I hold onto something that's not working, that's what keeps me stuck.
Hugs,
Melissa

May, this too shall pass! This happens to me also. I walk into my room all ready to play, look around, sort some things, and feel "blue" and walk out. I think our minds need to rest sometimes. I know mine begs for a break. What I do is close the door and not return for a few days. By then I am refreshed and ready to create. Take a break, don't force it, it will not turn out. Big hugs and smiles!

Your DD looks like she is having fun. Did she finish her project?

I think we all go through that. All I could manage yesterday was to start to sort my cat fabrics... (The Halloween cats are in a pile by themselves.)

May Britt, this shall pass! This happens to all who create. I think our minds need to rest sometimes.
Sometimes, I just look and look at my books for inspiration, but end up doing nothing, a whole day wasted!
Then the next day, I can stitch away...it just flows!
