Enjoying my sewing time

This weekend have been so wonderful.  I have enjoyed a lot of sewing time out on my porch.  Have to make the best out of every sunny day now.  Fall is approaching very fast.  We have already had cold nights (minus 2 Celsius) and my summer flowers are soon ready to go in the garbage.

Recently I recieved the stitcher pattern I had ordered.  Happy mail day !!  I traced august month and a couple of other months too.  So nice to have a "just-grab-and-go" project ready to bring with me wherever I go.

I love Kathy Schmitz stitcheries.   Starte to sew on the august pattern.  And now I will have many hours of happy stitching with this project.

Also had some progress of my Shoo Fly blocks.  40 done, 139 to go.  I have decided to use blue fabric just one time.  That said, I have looked through my blue stash and I do not have 179 different blue fabrics.  Blue has not been my favorite colour....until now.  Blue has grown on me, but it has to be the right kind of blue.   Think I still have to collect about 40 more blue.  May be I will dive into some of my friends blue stash LOL. I only need a little piece (2.5 x 6.5 inch).

Part 2 of my Gossip In The Garden is done.  Having so much fun doing the applique on this project.  And I have prepped the applique for part 3 to 5.  Think I have so many great projects going on this fall.

Focus project

I'm back at work and I miss my quiet mornings with hand stitching.  Now I just have to enjoy my evening stitches.

I have decided to have focus on a few projects the rest of august and in september (and maybe the rest of the year if I do not get side tracked LOL). I like to switch between different tecniques.

EEP focus:  I recently joined the Round We Go Bom (design Sue Daley) and this will be my "on-the-go" project.  I have prepped some more blocks and this is perfect to bring with me on visits, waitingrooms and more.  So far I have received three months and this is the blocks I have made so far.

Needleturn applique focus:  I have noe done any needleturn applique for a time now and I missed it so much.  Needleturn applique is my favorite tecnique.  So I started to sew Gossip In The Garden (design Hatched and Patched) and I looooooooove doing needleturn applique againg. Part one is done and I am sewing on part 2.

Stitchery focus:  My friend Elisabeth had traced the stitchery for me and gave it to me as a summer gift.  I have wanted to make this bag for a long time.  So while I'm waiting for a new Kathy Schmitz stitcery that I have ordered,  I will stitch on this.  Lots of work to do on this bag with also hexagons panel and two wool applique (with buttonhole stitches that I hate) to make.

Hand piecing focus:  I have joined Jen Kingwells TOM (Template Of the Month) and I will try to keep up as the templates/patterns come.  Still have 4 more small blocks to sew on month five and I will be on track before month six comes.

A FINISH:  Happy dancing because I have finished another UFO.  This is Bosquets Gardenhurst from Irene Blancks book Focus on applique.  Loved working on this quilt (needleturn applique of course) and dared to machinequilt it myself.

Machine sewing focus:  I have hade this quilt in mind for a long time.  And this weekend I tested some blocks. 3x3 inches shoo fly blocks.  So fun to sew.  179 bloks to make.  My plan was to use the blue just one time.  But I am not sure if I have as much as 179 different blue fabrics as blue has not been my favorite colour up to now.

This is a little of this and a little of that in different tecniques. And I know I will get inspired to start other projects, and I know I have some more UFOs to finish.  But fall and winter is coming and with that perfect sewing days (rain, snow, wind, cold).

Another UFO finished

On my last week of summer vacation I do a little happy dance.  Another UFO is finished today.

This was an BOM from Lappemakeriet.  The papers does not say the year, but I think it was their BOM from 2012.

I have machin quilted it myself.  The easy way.  And I got the soft look on it that I wanted.

I really like the look of it.  Think this will be one of my favorite quilts to snuggle under in cold winterdays. Or like now in cold summer days on the porch.

In july I signed up 5 UFO's in my quilt guilds UFO challenge.  We are showing the result at the november quilt meeting.  So far two of five UFO's are done. My goal is to finish all five (and maybe sign up a few more on the next meeting).

UFO or not?

LONG time ago I bought the pattern Gossip in the Garden.  It has been in and out on my bookshelf for a long time.  Many time I have almost started it, but then put it back in the shelf.  When visiting Hanne this week I got so inspired by looking at her finished quilt on the wall.  Coming home I pulled the pattern out from the shelf.....again. Picked some of my fabric treasures (there is a lot of small pieces in this box, the rest of fabrics I have loved so much).

And today I started to trace the stitchery and make the applique parts for part one.  I think this isn't a new project, is more like an old ufo, even if I have not started it until now.  Because it has been in and out in my mind for a very long time.  Could not stop thinking about this quilt. So let us call it a mind UFO.  Now it's started and I will enjoy the progress with all my treasure fabrics and all the different tecniques in this quilt.

Needed something easy to do now, because working on the Round We Go blocks is a little bit rough on my arm right now.
