Love my stitching

I have traced a new project.  It's the tablerunner from Kathy Schmitz new book Stitches from the Yuletide.

Yesterday I started to stitch on it..............at least that was what I had planned.  But as you see someone else had other plans in mind.

He's the boss.

Design by me Norway

Several months since I made my last blogpost (shame on me). But for you who follow me on instagram, you know I have active there.  But now it is time to start (at least try) to blog more often.  Hope I can manage that.  But at the computer all day at work, I am not that keen on sitting in front of my computer when I'm home.  I rather spend my time sewing.

Last weekend I visited the Design By Me exhibition at Lillestrøm twice.  They had one section with sewing and one section with knitting.  I took the day off from work on friday and spendt the day there with three of my quilt buddies in the sewing section.  Lots of inspiration and things to buy.

Saturday my daughter and I drove Lillestrøm and spendt the day at the exhibition, this time mostly in the knitting section.  A lovely mother - daughter day we had.  She is more into knitting, but have started to sew a little bit too.

Both day I met a lot of quilting friends I had not seen for a while.  Always fun to catch up with you all.

Did I buy something......oh yes !!

Looking forward to start this applique by Irene Blanck.  Just have to find the perfect background first.

And I needed this Catch all Caddy pattern design By Annie. Hope to sew it soon.

Quilting with rulers

This weekend I took a class with Merete Ellingsen in how to machinequilt with rulers.  I had bought a starter kit and during the weekend several other rulers came home with me.  Because this was so fun.

We started with simple lines to figure out how to use the rulers.  And then we got a sampler she had prepared for us.  We were now going to play with the rulers to fill in the open spaces.  And how fun was that.  I manage to do something, other rulers I have to practice more.

Back home I found this sample that I made in a class with Camille Roskeylly in 2014.  It has been put away in a box ever since.  Had no ide what to do with it until now.  This was perfect for playing with my rulers.

And this is how it turned out. Not perfect, but it is a start.  I need to find another testing project. Because there is one thing I learned this weekend, practice practice practice !!!

Sewing weekend at Klækken

The weekend 20-22 april I was together with about 170 other quilters at a sewing weekend hosted by Kathrines Quitestue at Klækken hotel.  So fun to meet old and new quilt friends for a weekend full of chatting, inspiration, shopping, workshops, show and tells, delicious food, wine and a little bit of sewing.

Some photos from the workshop show and tell friday evening:

I went to some of the workshops and learned a few tricks:

And now some photos from Show and Tell saturday evening:

And then some inspiration from around the sewing area:

Kathrine had brought almost the whole shop to the hotel:

A wonderful weekend and I am already looking forward to next year.
