Wonderful Shipshewana

Arrived Shipshewana at Tuesday by noon and I fell in love with this small town right away.

Pretzels at Jo Jo's. They are so tasty.

Then over to Lollies where we met some quilting friends. This is a wonderful quiltshop. Loads of inspiration. Visited this quilt shop several times already, and I know I'm going to spend more time there before going home

Love this little town and are enjoying our daily walks.

Amish food is delicious and I love their pais.

Got a ride with two sweet ladies to visit Carolyns quilting cottage.

Two wonderful ladies helped us around in the shop.

Look at this sign, it is so true. I'm having another day in paradise.

I earned my red shopping crown, got the royal bow and had a lot of laughing. We even wear the crowns out eating lunch.

Wednesday evening was the opening of the Dear Jane reatreat. This hotel has quilts hanging all over the walls.  And this buggy in front of the conference hall is welcoming the ladies to the reatreat.

120 ladies have come to this reatreat. Some far away from Australia, Belgium, Great Britain, Canada, and from all over Americ. And then there is me and Hanne from Norway. The ladies in this room are working on som amazing quilts. And I have met a lot of wonderful ladies. Having a great time and there is still more to come.

Shipshewana is decorated for Christmas. Love it.

Another quiltshop and thunderstorms

A new day in Indianapolis and a visit to another quiltshop. Ths time it was the Quilts Plus. Also a wonderful quiltshop with loads of fabric and inspiration. Lots of samples on the walls.

I am so happy we were allowed to take photos in the shop. This will be great memories to look back on. Loads of inspiration.

Coming home to the house right on time before the heavy rain and thunderstorms started. Tornado warnings north and south of Indianapolis, but we are safe and sewing indoors. Hope the weather clears up soon.

Quilt vacation far away

Finally the day arrived and Hanne and I could start our journey to Shipshewana. Early morning at Gardermoen airport, via Amsterdam and finally we arrived Chicago. Then by car to Indianapolis.
Today we visited Back Door Quilts. An amazing quiltshop with wonderful service. My first visit to an american quiltshop and I am so thrilled. Enjoy the photos.

Doing some needleturn applique

001

Done some needleturn applique on my Aunt Sarahs quilt.  Love sewing needleturn because it makes me relax.  Really need to relax now after some very heavy busy weeks.

002

I have also prepped all 86 (guess I made over 100 just to be sure) leaves that is going to be appliqued at the centre wreath.  More relaxing needleturn applique.

Prepping needleturn sewing

Prepping takes a long long time.  But I like doing it and I know when all the parts are traced, ironed and cut out it makes the sewing fast and easy to do.

001

I like to trace the pieces onto freezerpaper.

003

And then I iron the freezerpaper onto the fabric. When I have so many pieces I give each one a number that I write both on the freezerpaper and on the pattern.

002

I use a lightbox to glue the stems in the right place

006

Now I can enjoy doing the needleturn applique while watching tv.

004

I have also prepped the pieces for Mrs Hartigans stash quilt.  Perhaps this needleturn applique is coming with me to Shipshewana?

Oktober quiltmeeting

010011
The last thursday in the month is always the day for the quiltmeeting in my local quilt group.  This thursday we were going to have a auction.  Lots of ladies had organized their sewingroom and brought the leftovers to the auction.  The money coming in is a contribution to the quilt trip we are having next year.
And then there was show and tell.  Just enjoy the photos:
