Rain and thunder = sewing time

Today it has been a lot of heavy thunder storms and rain, so the best way to spend the day was in my sewingroom.

Working on The Ohio Star Crossing quilt and I decided to start sewing the 36 patch blocks. A lot of cutting first and then chain sewing some blocks.

Rusken helped me guarding my my patches.

When the thunder storm was to heavy so I had to pull out all the outlets (and could not use my sewing machine) I did some hand stitching on my star blocks.

The blocks made today. Three 36 patch blocks ( the quilt has total of 32 blocks and I have made 16 of them….half way).  I also made two star blocks.

So thanks to rain and thunder I got a lot done today.

Summer sewing

Lazy warm summer days and I am on my summer holiday for three weeks and so far having focus on making blocks.  The colours in these photos are so wrong because they are in more happy bright colours than this.  But taking photos when it is dark outside and just using the lamp indoors makes it so wrong.

Still have to decide if I am going to make a table runner of the three blocks I have made. Or should I make another one and make a table cloth??

Summer Shop Hopping

For several years me and three other friends have had a summer shop hopping.  And today was the day we went for the 2014 shop hopping.   Up early to get ready and by 08:00 we was on our drive to the first stop.

 

Of course some sewing in the car.  I manage to sew one TGWT hexagon.

First stop was at Stoff og Stil.  I bought zippers and a lot of glue for my gluepen. In and out in just 15 minutes because we had more interesting places to visit.

Next stop was at Kathrines Quiltestue.  Always a joy to come to this quiltshop.

Always a lot of inspiration.

Shopping……oh yessssss!!!!!!

Then we drowe to our next stop at Lappemakeriet.

A lot of inspiration in this shop too !!

Even in the rest room there was a lot of quilts.

This tuesday there was a little sewing together at the quilt shop.

And when the sewing ladies had left we was able to walk around in the room to have a look at the exhibitiion of old quilts.

Then we was on our way to the nest stop on our shop hopping. And some quick lessons in how to use the glue pen in the back seat.

Last shop to visit on our tour was Hadeland Glassverk.

Finally time for dinner at Oldermors Karjol.  As you see we got heavy rain and thunder, but we was able to get a table just under the roof so we was happy to eat outdoors.

and the dessert was divine.

Back home after being on the road for over 12 hours.  Overloaded with inspirationg and good memories.  Good to relax out on the porch with a glass of white wine and looking at my goodies.  Have a lot of ideas for some EPP projects here.

Thank you Irene, Britt and Bjørg (who drove the whole day) for a wonderful shop hopping day.  Already looking forward to next years trip.

The Tour de Fibre sew along

Friday evening Hanne came for a weekend visit and we just relaxed and sewed while planning the Tour de Fibre 2014. We both have picked some focus projects.  And both have the theme blocks this year.

Saturday was the start of Tour de France and what’s better than having the opening for the Tour de Fibre at a quilt shop.  We drove down to Flisa where Kreative Ingema has her quilt shop.  She used to share it with another shop owner that sold yarn, but now she has the entire shop for herselv.

And it is a wonderful quiltshop with lots of temptations.  This shop is just about 30 minutes driving from where I live, and I am so happy to have her so close.

She also had a little corner in the shop where we enjoyed a cup of coffee while chatting about quilty stuff.

Know I will be back in this shop and I recommend all quilters passing through Flisa  or nearby to visit Kreative Ingema.

Back home sewing on the porch.  My focus this weekend was my star blocks.

And for the first time this summer it was so warm that we could sit outdoors until past midnight.

And I was happy to have my neck light so that I could sew all evening.

Hanne and I have had a wonderful weekend sewing together.  And we are already planning a new sewing together this summer.  We had the opening of TdF together and we will also end the Tdf together with champagne and prizes for well done TdF.

So far I have made 17 blocks for my Sunburst quilt.  This is a pattern from Carolyn Konig book One Stitch at a Time. Love this book. And I love making these blocks.

My TdF continues by sewing blocks. I have several projects that is in progress making blocks both in EPP, needleturn, sewing with machine and sewing by hand.  Guess you will see more of these blocks during the tour.
