The swedish quilt associations annual meeting

This weekend Kristin (no blogger) and I went to Sweden. We were going to represent the norwegian quilt association as guests at the Swedish quilt association "Rikstäcket"20th anniversary and annual quilt meeting. And for the first time in many years we did not have to work at the meeting. Just enjoy being guests. And it was strange. Think I got a bit stressed while sitting in the sofa stitching and wondering what next thing I had to fix at the meeting.............and then I remembered.........I was guest...........and no work on me LOL I really enjoyed these days in Sweden.

There is a lot of quilt groups in Sweden and each group had made their own logo quilt.
And there was a lot of beatuful small logo quilts to look at.

One of the exhibitions was "Sayings". It is a little bit difficult to translate every sayings to english, because a lot of them are "swedish" and the meaning is special to them. So just enjoy the photos of these small quilts and perhaps you can guess the meaning of them.

And then there was the next exhibition. All the quilts that was entered in the competition that was called "Not every things that glimmers is gold" Just enjoy the photos...

And below are the winners

Professional

New quilters

Skilled quilters

It was fun to see how the Swedish group arrange their meeting and we had some great days.
I still have some more photos to show you.
And did I do some shopping???
Wait and see......

I MADE IT

Now it is sept 30th and the clock is 2245. I am putting the last pins in the Angel Story book quilt. Deadline for Stinas Angel Story book club is finishing the top before oct 1st (tomorrow)

Tadaaaaaa......The top is done..........the clock is 23:10. I made it.

The top is finished.

Thank you Stina for pushing me so to finish this top. Now I have 3 months to finish the quilting.

I have celebrated my birthday sewing with a glass of white wine. A perfect day with a lot of phones and mails from good friends.

Saying for today:

A birthday is just the first day of
another 365-day journey around the sun.
Enjoy the trip.

Be careful

Be careful with your rotary cutter. This is a photo my friend Bjørg (no blogger) mailed me this morning. Poor girl........trying to finish her Angel story book top before deadline tomorrow. And ended up with this huge bandage on her finger.

She says the moral is: Keep your finger ON the ruler and not outside it when you rotary cut.

Angel Story Book sewing

I am a memeber of Stinas Angel Story book club and the deadline for finishing the top is approaching very fast. I have until oct 1st to finish it. And Stina is pushing me to finish it. And today I had decided to spend all my day working on the top. So the first thing I did this morning was to find all the blocks and fabrics.
After breakfast I started to rotarycut all the squares that should go between all the blocks.

And I started to puzzle...

Here is the first 1/4 part of the top sewed together.

I really like the result so far.

And the quilt started to grow.......

And grow...........

And grow.............ooooopss................this is photos from my walk today.

Had to get som fresh air, and the sun shined so beautiful. And on my walk in the forest I took some photos of these mushrooms.

Back home I continued sewing the top together.

And now it's almost done. 3/4 are sewed together. The last part is just partly sewed together. But now it's late and I think I call it a night. But I think I will manage to finish it before deadline. Tomorrow I am teaching a workshop after work, but I got tuesday evening to sew the rest together.

My friend Bjørg (no blogger) is also working on the Angel Story Book. She hoped to finish the top before the deadline, but while rotarycutting the frames for the blocks she had a little accident. The rotarycutter was too sharp, and her finger was to close to it. So she had to go to the hospital to have a look at it. And came home with a huge bandage on her finger.

So let this be a warning. Be careful with your rotarycutter.

Saying for today:

A messy house is the sign of a happy quilter
