Several projects

I guess I am not the only one having a lot of projects going on.  You remember the two boxes from my previous post.  Where I decided to continue prepping This Goes With That hexagons with the red fabrics.  That was because I had other plans with the other box.

001

I am going to make a orange peel quilt using these fabrics.  They are a kind of out of my comfort sone, but I LOVE these fabrics.

002

So this week I have prepped a lot of orange peel blocks.  This will be another perfect #happytravellingproject for my trip to Shipshewana. Only 5 weeks until we are on the plane now. Hope I will meet a lot of blogging friends there.

003

Started to machinequilt my Red Home quilt this week. Decided that I had to do something with the pile of basted quilts.  Quilting a little now and then because my neck is not feeling so good at the moment.

010

And Rusken really like to join me in the sewingroom.

014

And he loves the Red Home quilt.  So this is cat approved several times.

004

So when Rusken is sleeping on the Red Home quilt and I am not able to machinequilt on it, I’ve been handquilting on this little quilt.

007

We have already had several frost nights and it was cold this morning when I took photos of these cute snowmen.  This is blocks I gave Hanne for her adventcalendar last year and we were sewing it together.  But with all the Christmas preparations and then spring and summer came it was not finished.  Just three blocks done.

019

Today I have stitched and appliqued 4 blocks.  Hope to finish the last two blocks this weekend and then I can sew the quilt together.  Each little block is so fast to make, so why did I put it away last Christmas.

Tomorrow will be an exciting day together with ladies from my quiltgroup. Will tell you more later.

A little of this and a little of that

012

Decided to start prepping som happy travel project for an upcoming travel in november.  Some time ago I started to sew This Goes With That hexagons (design Sue Daley) in red/pink/light fabrics.  Restarted it in blue/brown/light colours, but did not feel happy with those blocks.  Thought some time that I should start it over again in those colours in the box to the right. Hanne is doing this quilt in those fabrics.

013

But as I already had made 9 blocks in red/pink/light colours,,,,,

014

I chose to continue prepping i red/pink/light colours.  And I feel happy with it. You all know red is my favorite colour.

029

More prepped blocks ready to come with me on the plane in 39 days.  Prepped like this in small plasticbags it is so easy to bring along and just sew whenever I want.  And I will prepp more blocks + another easy to do applique project too.

016

Just 78 days to Christmas and I hope I can have this quilt finished to hang it on my wall for this Christmas.  The four center blocks are done and sewed together.

018

And in the last weeks I have stitched the snowflake blocks and appliqued the heartblocks so now I was ready to sew on the outer borders.

030

Just a couple of hours sewing the borders was on the quilt

031

The Scandinavian Christmas quilt (design Lynette Anderson) is now ready to be basted and quilted.

020

I’ve also done some progess on sewing the hexagons for my Aunt Sarahs quilt together.  Rusken had to take a close look at them and think he approved the colours.

My weekend in the sewingroom

002

What on earth am I doing with these shirts?  In two weeks the ladies at MaurTua is coming to our quiltgroup to teach us how to recycle old shirts into our quilting.  They’re on facebook too.

003

So this weekend I’ve done my homework to cut a shirt (I had five) into squares. I am amazed how many pieces one shirt gives.  The class is in two weeks and I am really looking forward to it.

006

Done some progress with my Aunt Sarahs quilt.  Still have a lot of background hexagons to dress, but I’ve started to sew the rows together.

008

And I have done all the appliqued heart blocks and the stitched snowflakes for the outher border on Scandinavian Christmas.  Just two small churn dash blocks to sew and I can start sewing the border onto the centerpiece.

September quilt meeting

Last thursday in the month is always the day for our quiltmeetings.  Yesterday Marianne from Trådsnella had packed her car full with quilt goodies and came to visit us.  The ladies was hungry for some shopping and had a great time looking at all the fabric and other quilty stuff.

And she gave us a little mini lecture in how to do English Paper Piecing.  Thank you Marianne for bringing your shop to our quiltmeeting.

Then there was show and tell.  Enjoy the photos.

A lot of vitamin Q

002

This weekend I have been to the cabin with good friends.  The sewingmachine was on the table from early morning to late night (actually it never came off the table).  Wonderful autumn sun so we did go for a long walk and we picked some berries to make dessert.

003

As always I had brought too many projects.  I had one main focus this weekend and it was gifts for two newborn boys.

006

I almost finished both of them.  Just have the binding to sew down on one of these quilts.  Boys need cars on their quilts.  I found the motives on internet, just small photos, so I had to draw them bigger for application.  I am really happy the way they turned out.

008

The last times we have been on the cabin we have all worked on our log cabin quilts.  All four of us bought the same kit, but after adding fabric from our own stash, they looks so different.  Will take photos later when they are all finished.

009

Have to measure the bed to see how many blocks I need.  So far I have 51 done and 9 prepped to be sewn.  Think I will prepp more blocks this way, then it is so easy just to grab one and sew.

004

My hadsewing this weekend was the hexagon flowers, and I have sewn all the coloured flowers.  Still have a lot of white flowers to sew before I can start sewing it together.  So fun working on it.

Right before leaving home I grabbed this tin box filled with hearts for the Scandinavian Christmas Quilt.  I will give this quilt some focus now.  Just three months until Christmas and my goal is to have the top finished soon.  The main part of the quilt is sewn together, so I just have the outher border with the appliqued hearts and the stitched snowflakes to make.

This has been a wonderful weekend filled with vitamin Q.
