A lot of sewing

Hanne and I have spendt the whole day in the sewing room. 

I manage to finish these four draw string purses.

Hanne sewed on some hexagons, and also got a lot done on her ninepatch quilt.  I did not take a photo of that one, but if you visit her blog I guess she will blog it some day.  It will be beautiful.

Always fun to have Hanne joining me in the sewingroom.  Hope you come back soon.

When I had finished the drawstring purses I started to sew four toilet purses from some leftover jelly roll strips.  I have almost finished all four during the day.  I guess they had been finished if I not had started to………..

try to put zippers on the zipper (does that make sense??)  I had bought/got as gifts several yards of zippers, but I had to put on the zippers myself.  A little bit tricky to do.

but suddenly……..EUREKA………. I discovered how to do it. 

Four owls were chrochet this weekend, and for all of you who guessed it was a bear I had started to make,  that’s correct.

Say hello to Mr Bear.  He is soooo cute. Think I have to make more of these too.  Guess a lot of owls and bears, and perhaps some other figures will be made the next weeks.

For all of you that have asked for a pattern on the owls.  There is no pattern.  We borrowed one owl from Laila, and we just started to chrochet and made it out from our own head.  They are stuffed with batting and each one has their own personality.

Owlies

Hanne is visiting me this weekend and we had BIG plans to do a lot of sewing. But then we discovered something new. Coming home from the quiltmeeting thursday, shops closed, no cotton yarn in the house. And we just had to start chrocheting. Then I remembered my big basket of all my leftover DMC thread.

Luckily I had two chrochet hooks. One for me and one for Hanne. And then we started making owls. Isn’t he cute. We almost forgot to get some sleep. This is so fun.

Today our owls was modelling out in the moss. I have so far made three. Those are the three to the left in the photo. Hanne have made the two in front right. And the owl in the back is the one that started it all. Made by Laila, and she was so nice to let him stay with us for this weekend, so that we could figure out how he was done.

Someone else thinks these owlies has to be checked out.

They got a bit scared from Rusken and tried to climp ut the tree stump to escape. I know there will be more chrocheting of owls the next days/weeks. They are so cute.

But first I have to make this one a try. Can you see what this is going to be???

Now some qualitytime in the sewing room. Hanne has brought a lot of projects she wants to make progress on. I too also have a lot of projects going on there.

Quiltmeeting

Quiltmeeting in my quiltgroup today. The last meeting before our summervacation.

As usual we have delicious food. And I ate too0000 much.

Show and Tell

A lot of beautiful things was on show and tell this evening.

And look who have come for a visit this weekend. Now we are going to have a vitamin Q weekend.

Kansas city quilt market 2012

I have not been there, but just discovered there is a lot of videos on youtube showing new patterns, fabriclines and books. Like this video from Moda. If you search for Kansas city quilt market 2012 on youtube you will see all the other videos.

I know this will be expensive for me. So much inspiration. And so many lovely patterns and fabrics.

Progress on AS and SC

This weekend I have been doing great progress on my Antique Sampler. All blocks finished and I started to do the layout of the quilt.

Then I discovered I was lacking 3 blocks. What……I really thought I had finished them all.

But after looking through my Antique Sampler sewing box filled wiht fabrics I found the three missing blocks in the bottom of the box. Did the applique yesterday.

And today I sewed the top together. When I bought the kit (fabrics) for this quilt I intended to make a brown and blue quilt. But then I started to add a little bit red and a little bit of pink to make it MY quilt, and the look of it has changed totally. As you see I am making a smaller version than the original quilt.

Today while visiting Laila I glued the pieces for the outher border. I love my glue pen. It is so fun working on this quilt now.

I have also done a lot of progress on my Scandinavian Christmas. Sitting out on the porch these days when we have had +28 C in the shadow has been so lovely.

But today it is a chillly wind and it is best to stay indoors at the sewingroom.

Hot days

Summer has arrived Norway.  Having HOT days.  Almost impossible to sit out on my back porch in daytime, but when the evening comes I love to sit out there stitching.

Together with Rusken. 

One looooooooooooooooong cat loves to sleep out there.

I have now finished all the blocks for my Antique sampler.  Hope I manage to sew the top together this long weekend.

But then there is the outher border left to sew.  All peaces are ready to be glued on to the paper and stitched together.  Nice work out in the sun.

Sunshine and sewing

Finally a warm and sunny day out on the porch. 
Let us hope the summer have come to stay.

Have been working on my Antique sampler in the sun today, listening to the bumble bee buzzing in the flowers on my table.  Rusken had to study it properly, but he did not like it when the bumble bee almost sat on his nose LOL

Some goodies in the mailbox.  From Monika I got this wonderful homemade card and a cute little stitchery.  Have already started to stitch it. And the chocolate is gone. Thank you so much Monika.

And from Gudrun I got this lovely items.  Cute tiny knitting sticks, a luggage tag, a cute bag and delicious chocolate.  Still got some left of those.  Big hug to you.  Love it.

Some weeks ago I looked through my stitchery box and found a lot of finished unused stitcheries.  I am preparing for a sales market this autumn and thought a good idea was to make……

some drawstring purses.  Four finished today.  Just have to find some cords to pull it together now.

also found some more stitcheries in my box…….

and have prepared for four new drawstrings purses.  It is so fun to make these.  And if they are not sold, I guess the family will get drawstring purses for Christmas this year LOL

17.mai

I have been visiting my daughter, my son and his girlfriend in Oslo and celebratet 17.mai together with them. 

A lot of people with flags out in the street so see the parade walking towards the royal castle.  I love listening to the bands playing while marching, and I love watching all those wonderful bunader (costumes).

We also walked up to the roal castle to see the royalties wawing to the parade passing the castle.

A wonderful day together with my family.

Mr. and Mr. Moose

It has been an amazing day with sun and spending a lot of time out on the porch.  Finally a day sitting out in the sun and I can feel the spring has sprung.

This evening I have been finishing the moose’s I started at the cabin last weekend.  Had done almost all the parts, and today I sewed it together.  A lot of handstitching to do and out in the sun it was a piece of cake.

And tadaaaa……..meet Mr. and Mr. Moose (design Northern Quilts).  If you wonder what they are going to be used as, I can tell you there is for covering the plastic wine bags.  And if you lift the leaf, you can pull the wine tap out of a hole and pour the wine down into the glass.

Another weekend at the cabin

When the quilt meeting last thursday was over Irene and I was ready to drive to the cabin where three quilting friends was waiting for us. 

As usual I had brought a lot of projects.  And I got a lot done.  Like sewing down the bindings on the Chrismas table cloth and some wallhangings (showed in my previous post from the quilt meeting). I hate sewing down bindings, but together with friends chatting and laughing it is done in no time.

But most of all I enjoyed working on blocks for my Antique Sampler quilt.  I am soon ready to sew the blocks together.  But have not started on the outher appliqued border yet.  So still a lot do do on it.

And as my machine project I started to sew these moose’s.  There was a lot of work prepping all the parts for the moose.  Still have to make legs for them, but then they are ready to be sewn together. 

Friday was a rainy day, but still we went out for a long walk.  And discovered traces from bear paws.  This photo is from our walk saturday when the sun was shining.

And we found some other traces from bear paws.  Can you see the bear paw??  It is a bit scary to know that the bear is close to the cabin.  But we did not see it. 

BUT…..during the night to saturday we heard the wolf howling.  An adventure mixed with both joy and  fear.  Not fun to know they are so close to the cabin, but so fun to have heard it.
