Prepping needleturn sewing

Prepping takes a long long time.  But I like doing it and I know when all the parts are traced, ironed and cut out it makes the sewing fast and easy to do.

001

I like to trace the pieces onto freezerpaper.

003

And then I iron the freezerpaper onto the fabric. When I have so many pieces I give each one a number that I write both on the freezerpaper and on the pattern.

002

I use a lightbox to glue the stems in the right place

006

Now I can enjoy doing the needleturn applique while watching tv.

004

I have also prepped the pieces for Mrs Hartigans stash quilt.  Perhaps this needleturn applique is coming with me to Shipshewana?

Dear Maybritt
You will make a great job. I found the issue of Quiltmania in my endless staple of magazines between the australian magazines.
Thanks for your help.
I will start this quilt next week.

Good preparation does make for better and faster sewing! Counting down the days - Shipshewana will be here very soon. Hope you are bringing an empty suitcase to hold the new fabrics you'll want from Lollys and Yoders. LOL
